I’ve Got You Covered (11)

Middle Grade

1. The Fast and the Furriest (Snazzy Cat Capers #2) – Deanna Kent

Gotta love the detail of the fish having a bowl on its head so it can breathe water. Also, THE TITLE.

2. The Last Human – Lee Bacon

♫ The humans are dead. We poisoned their asses. With poisonous gases. ♫

3. Kat Wolfe Takes the Case (Wolfe & Lamb #2) – Lauren St John

The amount that I would give for an animal companion that would go everywhere with me and take down my enemies…it’s a lot.

4. The Serendipity of Flightless Things – Fiadhnait Moser

I can already see me in a bookstore, tilting this from side to side to admire the shiny. Downside, this does not transition to low res well at all. Here’s a link to Simon & Schuster’s website so you can look at the super high res one.

5. Midsummer’s Mayhem – Rajani LaRocca

brb getting snacks

6. Only the Stars Know Her Name: Salem’s Lost Story of Tituba’s Daughter

You guys know how I feel about silhouette covers. Or, if you don’t, spoiler it’s FAVORABLE.

7. The Forty Thieves – Christy Lenzi

♫ Well Ali Baba had them forty thieves
Scheherezad-ie had a thousand tales ♫

8. The Okay Witch – Emma Steinkellner

She’d probably be a better witch if she didn’t lose her notes.

Young Adult

1. We Walked the Sky – Lisa Fiedler

Constantly makes me want to rotate the book, but it does create an amazing sense of floating, which is so perfect I can’t even.

2. 100 Days of Sunlight – Abbie Emmons

Very Everything, Everything.

3. Defy the Sun (Beware the Night #2) – Jessika Fleck

This series has some of my favorite covers ever. Like, honestly how dare they be this perfect.

4. Now Entering Addamsville – Francesca Zappia

5. Supernova (Renegades #3) – Marissa Meyer

It took me a shockingly long time to notice the giant Iron Man/Robot thing in the background.

6. The Gravity of Us – Phil Stamper

It’s always great when I ship it just from the cover.

7. Palace of Silver (The Nissera Chronicles #3) – Hannah West

Speaking of shipping from a cover, please let them be a couple. Look at how they have each other’s backs very literally. This is what I’m here for!!!

8. The Storm of Life (The Brilliant Death #2) – Amy Rose Capetta

Absolutely the book cover version of when the camera spins around while the couple kisses in slow motion at the end of the movie.

9. The Shadows Between Us – Tricia Levenseller

The sword fantasy cover is been-there-done-that, but god I love the background. Totally want the walls to look like that in my dungeon.

10. The Toll (Arc of a Scythe #3) – Neal Shusterman

Not my favorite color combo (purple and green tends to go Barney), but the scythe faces are so cool. And the purple guy’s sound wave scarf is pretty awesome.

11. Beyond the Shadowed Earth – Joanna Ruth Meyer

The opposite of a total Monet. It improves the closer you get.

12. Life Is Short & Then You Die: First Encounters with Murder – Kelley Armstrong, ed.

What are the crows counting???

13. The Iron Will of Genie Lo (The Epic Crush of Genie Lo #2) – F.C. Yee

Those lion-y statue guys are my absolute favorites at all times. I even have a photo from Korea of me making the same face as one. Anyway THIS IS GORGEOUS. Still so happy with the redesign for this series, even though the hardback of book one was also good.

14. Resurrection Girls – Ava Morgyn

They had a skeleton crew working on this one.

15. Blood Countess – Lana Popovic

Countess me in.

16. Orpheus Girl – Brynne Rebele-Henry

Not my typical art style, but there’s something about the spareness of this that gives it an eerie, dreamy quality that ties perfectly in with the Orpheus theme. Also, GIRL DO NOT LOOK BACK OMG.

17. Daughters of Nri (The Return of the Earth Mother #1) – Reni K Amayo

Normally I wouldn’t like the low-light thing that’s happening, but the way the bit of light catches on the sparkles is excellent, and the illustrations are soooo good.

1. Unsung Heroine (Heroine Complex #3.5) – Sarah Kuhn

I appreciate the irony of the fact that she’s singing on the cover.

2. Playing House (Uptown #1) – Ruby Lang

OMG I never would have known this was Carina. More like this, pls.

3. Tamiko and the Two Janitors (Amaranthine Saga #3) – Forthright

True story: I saw the covers for this series and immediately added book one to my tbr.

4. Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs?: Big Questions from Tiny Mortals About Death – Caitlin Doughty

People who hate cats always try to convince me my cat-loving stance is wrong by saying that my cat would eat my corpse if I die, and I always thought that was weird, because I AM DEAD in this scenario and my cat is trapped and needs food. All this to say, you may have my eyeballs if you need them once I’m dead, kitty.

5. Toil & Trouble – Augusten Burroughs

Does anyone else just want to stroke this cover?
