Book Signing with Lenore Appelhans, Megan Shepherd, Victoria Schwab, Beth Revis & Meagan Spooner

Hello, dear readers! Iâve been teasing you with this post for almost a week now. I promised a giveaway, and itâs at the end of this post. On Saturday, I drove three and a half hours up to Asheville, NC from my home in Atlanta to attend this signing. Why did I go so far? Because Lenore and I are besties and she totally made me, or something like that. Anyway, it was well worth it, even though it was snowing on Sunday morning, which freaked out my poor Georgia peach self with images of black ice and impassable mountains.
Their books, so that you can go check out their delightful debuts (or, in Beth Revisâ case, third book).
- The Madmanâs Daughter (The Madmanâs Daughter #1) - Megan Shepherd (my review)
- The Archived (The Archived #1) - Victoria Schwab (my review)
- Level 2 (The Memory Chronicles #1) - Lenore Appelhans (my review)
- Shades of Earth (Across the Universe #3) - Beth Revis (my review)
- Skylark (Skylark #1) - Meagan Spooner
I failed to be a good blogger and take notes, so Iâm pretty much just going to show you pictures accompanied by the occasional factoid. Be aware that Iâm not Lenoreâs stalker, but she was the only one that I could take photos of easily from my seat, so I sort of became her personal paparazzi.
Megan Shepherd explains The Madmanâs Daughter. During question and answer later on, she shared that the most difficult aspect of turning The Island of Dr. Moreau into a YA novel wasnât adding a female character, but trying to achieve classic-feeling language that isnât dense and boring.
Obviously, I failed at getting a photo of Victoria Schwabâs reading. But sheâs making a great face here, so thereâs that.
Unlike the others, Beth Revis declined to read from the start of Shades of Earth, partly because itâs the third in a trilogy and spoilers would happen, but also because she doesnât like doing readings. She did read a page, though: the blank one. Sheâs a funny lady, Beth Revis is.
The signing line, because I also failed to get a non-blurry photo of Meagan Spoonerâs reading. I should have brought my nicer camera. Lesson learned too late. Here are all of the ladies as the signing line goes by!
Victoria Schwab, author of The Archived, talking about the crazy faces she always ends up making when people take her photos.
Alright, to balance out that last photo, hereâs one of Victoria looking unquestionably adorable while Megan Shepherd, author of The Madmanâs Daughter, looks on.
Another cute photo of them!
And thereâs Meagan Spooner signing Skylark!
All five authors! Beth Revis, Meagan Spooner, Lenore Appelhans, Victoria Schwab, and Megan Shepherd.

Wow! This sounds amazing! Definitely worth the long, snowy drive! I love when multiple authors I enjoy all come together! Itâs like a party for book lovers.
Ha, it wasnât actually that snowy. I just freaked out because I THOUGHT it would be. It totally was a party!
Wow, what an awesome event, Christina! I like ALL these authors and/or their books, hah. I thought MS did a great job with the language in Madmanâs Daughter, Beth Revis IS hilarious, I love Lenore and Meagan (DIDNâT YOU TORTURE HER FOR THESE BROKEN STARS INFORMATION?), and I really liked Archived, so seeing Veronicaâs goofy faces and thinking of the more serious tone of the book makes me laugh. Awesome recap!
Wendy @ The Midnight Garden
She did do a great job with the language in TDM. That was my favorite aspect actually! Beth is crazy, and I love it. Also, her husband was wearing an awesome zombie t-shirt.
WHY DID I NOT DO THAT? FAIL!
I always expect authors to be like their books in tone, and vice versa. So funny how rarely that seems to be the case!
The green eyed monster has currently taken over my body as this comment is being typed.
Can any one of you just sneak me into the states for one of these awesome book signing events?! No?
Sigh. I will have to live my life vicariously through these photos (which are really cute) then.
I loved Victoriaâs seemingly death glare and Lenoreâs evil grin, hah.
Still have yet to read any of these books! Ahhhh.
Elaine
Ha, well, if you come to the states, you can totally come party at book signings! I have no ins with customs or airlines, though, unfortunately.
đ I love them too.
Here is the part where I sulk. Authors never ever come to Hawaii. I need to build a raft and float over to the mainland one day. We have such great shave ice too! But Iâm glad to hear you had fun. Beth Revis and her blank-page readingâŚI need to meet that lady.
Lilian @ A Novel Toybox
If I were an author, I would totes make sure my book tour went to Hawaii.
Um, signing in Hawaii is now on my bucket list of Things I Have To Do Someday. That would be kind of amazing.
I am going to come to Hawaii - if you help set it up and assure me there will be tons of people there at the event đ
Well, look at that. Youâre making a difference, Lilian!
Awesome looking event! Victoria looks adorbs! I wish I could go to an event, but authors never come to my neck of the woods. I do plan to make travel arrangements one day when I have the funds though so I can meet some faves. Dallas is the closest Iâve had any come to me and itâs about a 2.5-3 hour trip so itâs not too bad.
I havenât read The Madmanâs Daughter, but Iâve heard great things! Wasnât a big fan of Across the Universe personally, but Beth Revis is an awesome lady and I would totes read other work from her in the future. đ
Great post! Thanks for sharing your fun with us. đ

There are a million signings in Texas it seems like, though I donât know if itâs Dallas theyâre in. There must be some.
Awww, I like AtU, though itâs not a perfect series. Beth Revis is definitely awesome either way.
ooh lucky lucky you!! Victoria looks so pretty! i kinda suck that i put down the archived after a 100 pages, maybe ill get to it later! Hope you had fun and thanks for sharing it with us!!
- Farah @ MajiBookshelf
Victoria is pretty! I had trouble with The Archived too, so I get that.
Thanks for the fun post! That looked like a lot of fun đ
I am so jealous đ I adore Beth Revisâ books, and the pictures are awesome (the funny faces-lol!)
Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
I love the death glare Victoria is giving Lenore in that second picture.
I wish I could have stayed for the readings, but Iâm glad I didnât. All those visions of black ice and impassable mountains? Yeah, thatâs my driveway.
Yes, I love it too! She probably didnât even mean too, but itâs fabulous. I thought you arrived after the readings?
I went to one of Beth Revisâs signings once â for Breathless Reads, she is utterly hilarious.
I love all these pictures and the recap, yay for fun signings!
SO SO SO jealous you got to meet all these AMAZING authors!!!!!!!
Halee @ Confessions of a Book Addict
Woah! What an awesome event to go to, and what an AMAZING prize pack! Thank you!
Jelly!!! Iâve not read books by these authors but they are/seem amazing! Victoriaâs camera faces are so cute and I would so love to meet Beth Revis. *__*
These pictures are so cute, Christina. And you look like you had a ton of fun! Lenore and Victoria are adorable.
I wish I could go to a author event like this one! I have seen so many recaps lately and I am getting kinda jealous lol! Oh well I guess I will survive đ Or Authors should just come to where I live in Canada.. đ
Thanks for the chance to win these books! They all sound good and I am interested in reading them all. (Especially Level 2)
There must be some tours in Canada, though I donât know about where you live. Canadaâs a pretty big place.
I hope you like Level 2 when you get to read it!
I live in Calgary, Alberta. We have authors come out and sign books but mostly local authors.
Thanks đ I think I will. The story sounds really interesting.
Ahhh, well, maybe someday!
I thought about you when I got up Sunday morning and saw the snow falling! It was great meeting you!
Lovely meeting you as well! I was having such a meltdown on Sunday, you would think I would have gotten the snow to stop single-handedly. And then it totally wasnât a big deal.
WOW!! This is an AMAZING giveaway that you are having!! All those books are on my wishlist and CANNOT wait to read!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH for having this awesome giveaway and for a chance to win those amazing books!!!
No problem and best of luck with the fickle gods of randomness!
