July 2017: Month in Review

What I’ve Been Up To:

July’s been a good month for me. I’ve started dating again (via OKCupid), and that’s been pretty good for me, I think. Nothing too terrible so far, which is nice, and I get to brush up on my dating and social skills. It’s also really good for my self-esteem, which has my therapist very impressed and proud of me.

Blogging:

TBH I’ve been slacking a bit. I’m a little behind on my reading challenge rn (I do not dare check Jessie’s twitter to see how far behind I am), but I need a mental break now and again. It’s kind of astounding how unmotivated by ARCs I am atm, because I never thought I would be one of those bloggers, but I guess it just took seven years to get there. The seven year itch?

Movies & TV:

Mostly I’ve just watched Game of Thrones, though I’m two episodes behind so SHHHHHH. I’ll catch up this week, but I live in fear. This also means I can’t be on Twitter. Life is hard.

Reviews Posted:

I read 36 books in July with an average rating of 3.22. That’s an improvement on August, but I could use more books that I love to a flaily degree for sure. Now for the July awards:

Biggest surprise: Everything All at Once

Best romance: Brighter Than the Sun

Made me smile the most: Heartstone

Most WTF: Fly on the Wall

Favorite first time read: Discount Armageddon (not yet reviewed)

Favorite reread: The Epic Adventures of Lydia Bennet

DNFs:

Completely did not get/not my thing: Challenger Deep, The Murder of Bindy Mackenzie, Razorhurst, Boundless

Bored: Avenged, The Clockwork Dynasty, Impossible Views of the World

Poorly written: Lost in a Book

Didn’t like the characters: The Last Thing You Said, The Possible, Roar

Thin-shaming and all around offensive: Size Matters

Grossed out: See What I Have Done

Couldn’t stop laughing at “seismic vibrator”: The Hammer of Eden (aka the best vibrator name ever)
