February 2017: Month in Review

What I’ve Been Up To:

Yeah, so I usually have a bunch of sections to break down the month and talk about what I’ve been watching and listening to, but uhhhh I’ve mostly just been reading. Jessie (Ageless Pages) and I both ended February at 78 books, so our competition of sorts continues unabated and intense. *blows kisses at Jessie* She’s gone from being four books behind to one to two, though, so the writing is on the wall. It’s awesome, though, because I am kicking ass at my 300 book challenge (31 books ahead). I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be able to stick to this pace since I’ve almost entirely had to give up TV, but it’s fun while it lasts.

I’ve been keeping up with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (omg I love Nathaniel Plimpton—SHIPPPPP), and I’m working on catching up on The 100. Sung for some odd reason wanted to see Big Little Lies (well, okay, his reason was being curious about a show that HBO clearly shelled out big bucks for); it’s fun in a terrible crack way because jesus christ they are all psychopaths. Oh, I also saw Moonlight (good but not really my thing and not as gay I was promised) and Hidden Figures (LOOOOOOVE).

So that’s my month. Reading. Some more reading. And oh yeah reading. I read 41 books in February. That about sums it up.

With a lot of reading comes a lot of DNFing typically. Though I DNFed way less in February than I did in January. 41 books finished, 13 DNFed. Usually I DNF about half the number I finish, so that’s a low number. Most of these were just not my thing, being not so strong character-wise. Otherwise, they were boring or off-putting or in second person (aka the worst). Romeo and What’s Her Name was straight up atrociously bad though.

I was totally going to ask which of your DNFs was in second person because it is my faaaaavorite, but then I saw Ivory and Bone and was like…Oh…that one….It was a huge disappointment.

  2. Jessie says:

holy crap the noise I made at that gif. IT IS A PERFECT REPRESENTATION of how I feel logging in after reading three books in a day and SOMEHOW you’re still one ahead of me.

    [shakes fist]

I also DNF’d Cinnamon and Gunpowder a few years back. Dani loved it but I was so so bored. Also DNF’d Ivory and Bone — blah boring blah boring blah.

See you on the interwebs, Valjean!

  3. I basically want to grow up and be as good at reading books as you are! WOW AMAZING.

Hope March is as good for you as February.

  4. I’m way behind on The 100 this season and only watched the first episode of Big Little Lies. I like what I’ve seen and am pretty certain I’ll catch up at some point. 🙂 I’ve also given up TV almost completely but am still lagging WAY behind what I’d like to be accomplishing, reading-wise. 🙂

  5. I am impressed and in awe everyday of you and Jessie, and your competition!! You’re both kicking major ass. So awesome 🙂 I really loved Hidden Figures too!! It was such a wonderful movie, I can’t wait to buy the DVD.
