December 2015: Month in Review

What I’ve Been Up To:

There were times this year where I didn’t think I’d still be blogging in 2016, but I am. And, even better, I can report that I’m enjoying it so much more than I have in a long time. I’m fitting in more reads that aren’t review books, more rereads, DNFing when I want to, and I’m not beating myself if I don’t feel like posting on a particular day. Somewhat sorry for being irregular but whatever whatever I do what I want.

Here were my books received in December:

This month was mostly holidays, and the unfortunate days of work between them. Time spent with the parents and the boyfriend. For Christmas, I got a cat Tetris tower (Catris), which is not yet installed. Cat lady quotient increased! That and a Ninja blender are probably my favorite gifts. Well, also all the books I got for myself. (See Instagram book hauls above.

Here’s the December playlist, full of new finds.

My obsessions of this month were Hamilton (still) and Agnes Obel. Not new finds but what I’ve been in the mood for. In no way are they related.

Movies & TV:

Well, I haven’t really been watching that much lately, except I did maybe start watching this you know kind of cool show. It’s called Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries and WHO AM I KIDDING IT IS AMAZING YOU SHOULD WATCH IT RIGHT NOW. SUCH SHIP. SUCH FRIENDSHIP FEELINGS. SUCH PHRYNE. SUCH PERFECTION. I’ve been taking it slowly like a decadent Australian cake and I still have one season to go BUT ALSO I ONLY HAVE ON SEASON TO GO HOLD ME.

Um, obviously I’ve been on a bit of Lunar Chronicles and Lemony Snicket kick. *coughs* So yeah, this list is like half two series but whatever. I’m done with one and on the last Snicket book right now. It was a pretty great month with one notable, disappointing exception. December brought me to 266 books read in 2015. WOO!

Wow, I actually didn’t do too much DNFing this month, but there’s a big buzz book (sorry), an author whose books I keep wanting to like and can’t, a wut, and some OWMYEYES writing.

Holy wow that is one epic December book haul. Some wonderful titles there – looking forward to seeing what you think!

Also, no need to apologise for not sticking to a regular schedule. Blogging should be fun, not a chore – you do you!

I’m pretty fond of my haul. 😀 I bought about half of them for myself (bad Christina!).

Haha, thanks. I finally feel okay about it. I used to be so upset with myself if I couldn’t post everyday or whatever.

I have loved all of your Series of Unfortunate Events reviews. I had only read 1-3 years ago. It might be the series I need to get back to reading some MG books.

Your Instagram is gorgeous by the way. I`ve been the one liking older pictures (not stalking just OhMerGod the gorgeousness)

I am curious to why Passenger was a DNF. I started and put it back down last month, Same with Truthwitch and I totally felt like the only one who didnt jump in head first loving them.

    Happy New Year

Awww, thank you! I wasn’t sure if anyone would even read them because I feel like I don’t have a whole lot useful to say because they don’t change that much from book to book.

Yay! I’m glad you enjoy my Instagram. I feel like I’m still figuring it out. :-p

Passenger bored me. The romance was instalovey and not working for me, and the world was kinda eh. The characters didn’t seem to be responding to things in ways I found believable. Had a real Cassandra Clare vibe but without the crack that makes it addictive.

Truthwitch was rough for me for two hundred pages but then it got really interesting and I couldn’t put it down. It’s got a lot of problems for sure, but I thought it was worth it, and I think the series will only get better from here. That said, if it weren’t for the fact that I’d loved Susan’s previous series, I might have DNFed rather than holding out hope for the improvement that thankfully came.

  4. So many awesome looking books this month!

hahaha Black Heart, Red Glove, White Cat picture is the best ever. 266 books is incredible.. congratulations!! 🙂

I am glad you appreciate that. I was planning that instagram as soon as I realized that I had access to a white cat. Then I found my old red gloves and YASSSS.

If I DNFed, I probably would have with Passenger. It was soooo boring. Like…nothing happens for 500 pages! Why?!

And I’m glad that you’re back into a good blogging mood. 🙂

Yeah, I kind of liked the contemporary bit, but I was bored as soon as the time travel kicked in, which is a bad sign. The romance was already irritating me and I was just snarking it, but it still wasn’t fun to read so I quit.

      Thank you. 🙂

  6. I need to get that Harry Potter colouring book in my hands. I’ve been a little obsessed with adult colouring lately and I’ve seen beautiful pictures. The vanishing throne and Truthwitch are both high on my wish list. I’ve heard a lot of good things about The imposter queen. The shadow queen! I’m loving it, it’s pretty dark at times 🙂 I can’t wait to read The spinning thorns.

    Happy reading!
