Top Nine Authors Collaborations I Would Be Interested to Read

Dennard & Maas

Susan Dennard & Sarah J. Maas: I’m aware that Dennard and Maas do have an adult sci fi story they post on the web that they’ve been writing together, but I want something ON MY SHELVES. There’s no way these besties would not make the best collaborators. They’re so talented solo, but, when they’re together, magic happens. I’m pretty sure this one will happen (more) someday, and I’m excited.

Rowell & Keplinger

Rainbow Rowell & Kody Keplinger: These two would be the alliterative contemporary shiptastic dream team. Honestly, I just scrolled through my list of favorite authors trying to get ideas, but something about Rowell and Keplinger clicked. They both do amazing voices on their own, and, working together, I think they could kick to new heights.

Bardugo & Stevenson

Leigh Bardugo and Noelle Stevenson: Okay maybe I just want a graphic novel of a Bardugo story. I mean, Six of Crows Nimona style would be so fucking fun, I’m just saying.

Kristoff & Stiefvater

Jay Kristoff & Maggie Stiefvater: Both Kristoff and Stiefvater are currently working on collaborations, so they’re open to the idea. With their combined plotting, characterization, and feels destruction skills, the world might not survive the level of awesome that would result. Still, it would be worth the risk, yeah?

Riggs & Mafi

Ransom Riggs & Tahereh Mafi: These magical unicorns would do something amazing and unique, I’m sure. Generally I wouldn’t choose a couple to work together, because that could put a huge strain on a relationship. But these two are so cute and have such disparate writing styles that I’m super curious what would result from their writing partnership.

Wein & Talley

Elizabeth Wein & Robin Talley: Because I always end up slash shipping in Wein’s books, and they’d finally actually kiss each other if she partnered with Robin Talley. :-p

Damico & Darrows

Gina Damico & Eva Darrows: There would be so many badass ladies and such epic paranormal stuff. Dream team of paranormal basically.

Damico & Smith

Andrew Smith & Gina Damico: Alternatively, I think it would be really interesting if Damico and Smith wrote something Grasshopper Jungle-esque together. I’m not saying redo that plot, but another hilarious send up of bad horror movies, because they can both do that sort of thing well.

Adler & Ribar

Lindsay Ribar & Dahlia Adler: IMAGINE ALL THE DICK JOKES.

  2. This was tough list for me to make and I knew I wouldn’t recognize a lot of the authors on others’ lists. Oh well, I bet you pick some dynamic duos.

  4. I was racking my brains who to pair up with Rainbow Rowell and I couldn’t come up with anything that made me happy, so I left her off my list. But seeing Kody Keplinger on your list with her made me think… and I think YES! That would be an amazing book. Great list!

  6. YESSS to a graphic version of Six of Crows. It would be such a dark, gritty graphic novel, it’d be amazing! I paired Leigh Bardugo with Deborah Harkness for my TTT.

  14. I love these ideas! I haven’t read Jay Kristoff yet but knowing of his books I think you’re right to pair him with Maggie! And omgggggg how much would I die over a Dennard/Maas collab for my shelf! I really hope they finish their sci fi someday because it was fucking AMAZING. Alas they are too busy being publishing badasses… love the idea of Nimona-style Grishas! Or Nimona-style anything really.

  15. Can we please make Bardugo/Stevenson happen? That would be mind-blowing.

Awesome list! I’ve seen a lot of hoped for Dennard & Maas pairings, hopefully they’ll take the hint 😉 Also, where have I been? I DID NOT KNOW MAFI & RIGGS WERE MARRIED! I’m going to put it down to only having recently read Riggs’ book and not having read Mafi’s at all and crawl back under the rock I’ve apparently been living under…oops!
