Cover Snark (80): The One Where the WTF Covers Make Me Rather Ragey

Welcome to Cover Snark, where the people are snarky and the covers quiver in fear. Since I don’t write many snarky book reviews here on A Reader of Fictions, Cover Snark is my outlet. If you click on the title of the book, where possible, I’ve linked to Goodreads. Clicking on the cover itself will show you the cover in a larger size, in most cases. Feel free to love covers I hate and vice versa. Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Shiny and New:

1. Staying on Top (Whitman University #4) – Lyla Payne
Staying on Top (Whitman University #4) - Lyla Payne
Thoughts: Girl, if you like the top, then you just stay there. You have needs. If he doesn’t like that, move on. Also, I wonder what chicanery they’re up to that required him to break out the slightly larger glasses.

2. Lock In – John Scalzi
Lock In - John Scalzi
Thoughts: John Scalzi’s covers are nerd paradise. Also, FOR GILLIAN.

3. Parts & Wreck – Mark Henry
Parts & Wreck - Mark Henry
Thoughts: This looks like the adult romance version of those old Simon Pulse covers. It ALSO looks like he’s about to cut off the back of her hair with his scythe. The fact that the title sounds like Parks and Rec is the best thing.

4. The Murder Complex (The Murder Complex #1) – Lindsay Cummings
The Murder Complex (The Murder Complex #1) - Lindsay Cummings
Thoughts: *gasps* It’s so bloody and Battle Royale-ish.

5. The Chapel Wars – Lindsey Leavitt
The Chapel Wars - Lindsey Leavitt
Thoughts: Am I the only one picturing a fight to the death between Elvis impersonators?

6. Courted: Gilt / Tarnish – Katherine Longshore
Courted - Katherine Longshore
Thoughts: Sexy though these are for YA novels, I’m fairly certain the erotica audience this seems to be catering to will be disappointed.

7. Midnight Thief – Livia Blackburne
Midnight Thief - Livia Blackbourne
Thoughts: I am reminded of Labyrinth. See it now?

8. Up for Grabs – Heather Young-Nichols
Up for Grabs - Heather Young-Nichols
Thoughts: She doesn’t mind if you grab her ass. Go for it! No need to BUTTer her up or ass for permission first either. She’s a breath of fresh ass, if not a breast of fresh air.

9. Citadels of Fire (Kremlins #1) – L.K. Hill
Citadels of Fire (Kremlins #1) - L.K. Hill
Thoughts: Well, I guess that’s one way to stay warm during winter in Moscow. Doesn’t seem very forward-thinking, though.

10. Wild – Adriane Leigh
Wild - Adriane Leigh
Thoughts: If an independent woman and a controlling man’s one night stand doesn’t end with him getting kicked in the balls at least once for trying to boss her around, then I feel like I would be VERY mad if I read this.

11. Mouseheart – Lisa Fiedler
Mouseheart - Lisa Fiedler
Thoughts: 1) That may be the most terrifying cat I’ve ever seen. 2) Google suggested that I meant to search for Mooseheart. Like that’s a much more reasonable sort of word. Okay, Google, whatever you say. Those are totally moose.

12. A Girl Called Fearless – Catherine Linka
A Girl Called Fearless - Catherine Linka
Thoughts: A girl, a city, a weird font color change. I…am thinking about those Francine Pascal books. Those were the bomb back in the day.

13. Catch a Falling Star – Kim Culbertson
Catch a Falling Star - Kim Culbertson
Thoughts: Catch a falling star and put in your pocket. Never let it fade away.

14. The Finisher – David Baldacci
The Finisher - David Baldacci
Thoughts: FINISH THEM. AND THEIR LITTLE DOGS TOO. (JK. Adopt the dogs and give them a loving home.)

15. New Sight – Jo Schneider
New Sight - Jo Schneider
Thoughts: Her vision is based on pointillism? Also, are we teaching kids that addiction is good for them? Addiction does not actually equal power. I would like to put that out there.

16. A Kiss in the Dark – Cat Clarke
A Kiss in the Dark - Cat Clarke
Thoughts: Now, I know humans actually have fine little hairs all over their bodies, but it’s so creepy to me when pictures capture that. *shudders* Also, I hate eyebrow close up covers.

17. Forever Jack (Eversea #2) – Natasha Boyd
Forever Jack - Natasha Boyd
Thoughts: Spoiler alert: Kevin Costner and Robin Wright Penn finally fall in love and he drowns rescuing some tourists.

18. The Age – Nancy Lee
The Age - Nancy Lee
Thoughts: Well, this looks awfully familiar.

19. In the Lyrics – Nacole Stayton
In the Lyrics - Nacole Stayton
Thoughts: “The voice is an instrument inside your body.” I know what this is getting at, but I keep picturing x-rays of stomachs with like trumpets in them as if by magic.

20. Shame on You (Fool Me Once #1) – Tara Sivec
Shame on You - Tara Sivec
Thoughts: This image has already been used on a self pub. Sure, this cover looks better, but still not classy to reuse an image. Sorry not sorry.

21. Jaclyn and the Beanstalk – AJ Riley
Jaclyn and the Beanstalk - AJ Riley
Thoughts: At least zombies can’t climb beanstalks? I guess the zombies were a necessary addition, since my GR search showed there was already a book called Jaclyn and the Beanstalk. Wah wah.

22. Ungifted (Supernaturals #2) – Kelly Oram
Ungifted - Kelly Oram
Thoughts: If she were gifted, she would obviously have eyes like a blue and orange sun.

23. Last God Standing – Michael Boatman
Last God Standing
Thoughts: Let’s see…what’s a cubit? I used to know.

24. Deadly Little Sins (Prep School Confidential #3) – Kara Taylor
Deadly Little Sins (Prep School Confidential #3) - Kara Taylor
Thoughts: Ah, yes, the truth can hurt. But from the way I see it, you can either run from it or…learn from it.

25. Grim Shadows (Roaring Twenties #2) – Jenn Bennett
Grim Shadows (Roaring Twenties, Bk #2) by Jenn Bennett
Thoughts: Thanks, fog, for making public sex more private. Oddly, though, the cover actually has no fog on it. Curious.

26. Black Box – Cassie Leo
Black Box - Cassia Leo
Thoughts: The sun literally shines out of their asses.

27. The Art of Falling – Jenny Kaczorowski
The Art of Falling
Thoughts: This cover reminds me of Wild Awake. I think it’s the color scheme and the swishy hair.

28. Beyond Our Stars – Marie Langager
Beyond Our Stars
Thoughts: I feel like this is what they were going for but did not achieve with After Eden.

29. Until We End – Frankie Brown
Until We End
Thoughts: Not the most original dystopian cover, but it works.

30. Camp Christmas (Camp Boyfriend #1.5) – J.K. Rock
Camp Christmas (Camp Boyfriend) - J.K. Rock
Thoughts: I don’t think I could handle Camp Christmas. I bet they play Christmas songs 24/7. The odds of me leaving any way but in a straitjacket would be low. Very low.

31. Out of Time (Out of Line #2) – Jen McLaughlin
Out of Time - Jen McLaughlin
Thoughts: It’s like that scene from Hitch. Time got them 90%, but the last 10% is on them. AND THEY CAN’T MAKE IT. Forever almost kissing.

32. Unstoppable (The Nature of Grace #3) – S.R. Johannes
Unstoppable by S.R. Johannes
Thoughts: And yet she’s somehow been stopped by that little plant. I’m not intimidated.

33. The Days Lost – Shannon McCrimmon
The Days Lost by Shannon McCrimmon
Thoughts: A snake is an interesting choice of scarf.

34. Still Waters – Judith Saxton
Still Waters - Judith Saxton
Thoughts: Okay, the fact that we have both names is SLIGHTLY more acceptable considering the fact that this is an updated edition of an old book, but still I do not like it.

35. Confessions of the Very First Zombie Slayer (That I Know of) – F.J.R. Titchenell
Confessions of the Very First Zombie Slayer (That I Know of) - F.J.R. Titchenell
Thoughts: Okay, I don’t think I get why there’s a Hello, My Name Is label for the author’s name, but otherwise, this is a pretty good, simple cover.

36. The Sound of Useless Wings – Cecil Castellucci
The Sound of Useless Wings - Cecil Castellucci
Thoughts: Gregor Samsa awoke to find he’d been turned into a giant fly and said, “Fuck, not again.”

37. The Intelligence Director – Jessica Brody
The Intelligence Director - Jessica Brody
Thoughts: Please tell me this is a science fiction m/m romance. PLEASE.

38. What to Buy the Shadowhunter Who Has Everything (And Who You’re Not Officially Dating Anyway) (The Bane Chronicles #8) – Cassandra Clare and Sarah Rees Brennan
What to Buy the Shadowhunter Who Has Everything (And Who You're Not Officially Dating Anyway) - Cassandra Clare and Sarah Rees Brennan
Thoughts: What to Do When a Title Is So Long That You Cannot Deal (And You Really Don’t Care About It Anyway), the first book in the Bane of My Existence Chronicles

39. Just Like the Movies – Kelly Fiore
Just Like the Movies - Kelly Fiore
Thoughts: If it were REALLY just like the movies, it would actually be raining, and they wouldn’t have an umbrella.

40. Kalona’s Fall (House of Night Novellas #4) – P.C Cast & Kristin Cast
Kalona's Fall - P.C Cast & Kristin Cast
Thoughts: This series is still going. No wonder Kalona fell…from exhaustion and boredom, no doubt.

41. The Assassin’s Blade (Throne of Glass #0.1-0.5) – Sarah J. Maas
The Assassin's Blade - Sarah J. Maas
Thoughts: Celaena and Scarlet are style twinsies!

Cover Battles:

1. Timestorm (Tempest #3) – Julie Cross

Timestorm Australia
Timestorm (Tempest #3) - Julie Cross

Australian vs. US: Despite the fact that I’m giggling over the dude’s expression and the description of the writing as “zippy,” I still think the US cover is way better than the Australian one which looks like it’s in a noxious green cloud, so more like Fartstorm.

2. Fire & Flood – Victoria Scott

Fire & Flood
Fire & Flood - Victoria Scott

Take 1 vs. Take 2: That does look shinier. But the flames actually look faker to me. So, it’s wash I guess. (See what I did there?)

3. Divergent (Divergent #1) – Veronica Roth

Divergent - Veronica Roth. Movie tie-in edition.

Hardback vs. Movie Tie-In: Hahahahaha, the bird tattoos. And instead of a floating symbol, it’s Tris’ floating head, which has been chopped off her body where the title was all slicey-diced. Even for a movie tie-in, this is pretty sad.

4. The Falconer (The Falconer #1) – Elizabeth May

The Falconer
The Falconer (The Falconer, #1) by Elizabeth May

UK vs. US: Oooh, I actually like both of these. Badass ladies being badass. I’m just going to say I prefer the US one, since that one’s the one in my future. I mean, yes, it’s more generic, but the model also doesn’t look like Alicia Silverstone in a bad wig. So. Oh, also, the US tagline is pretty cool.

5. The Secret of Isobel Key – Jen McConnel

The Burning of Isobel Key
The Secret of Isobel Key

BrightFish vs. Bloomsbury: Hmmm, well, the font treatment is MUCH better with Bloomsbury, but I like the actual cover image better on the BrightFish cover, if only because a search revealed that the Bloomsbury one is using the same photo as this cover.

6. The Sound of Us (Radio Hearts #1) – Ashley Poston

Roman Holiday
The Sound of Us

Self pub vs. Bloomsbury: You win this round, Bloomsbury. Oh how you win this round, even with the hilarious little Mature Content flag like CDs with Parental Advisory stickers. I do think it’s fascinating that her name changed from Ashleyn to Ashley.

7. Positively Mine (Freshman Forty #1) – Christine Duval

Freshman Forty
Positively Mine

Self-pub vs. Bloomsbury: I CALLED IT. I looked at this new cover and went “pregnancy book,” then I checked the blurb and I was SO RIGHT. Why that particular pose = “my pregnancy test just told me that I’m preggers” I don’t know. While I don’t like either cover, I like the new one better than the original. Good title change too.

8. Pride’s Run (A Wolf’s Pride #1) – Cat Kalen

Pride's Run - Cat Kalen
Pride's Run

US vs. Australian: Is neither an option? Oh, look at me, I have hair and eyes. Clearly, I am supernatural.

9. Honeysuckle and Jasmine – Liz Grace Davis

Honeysuckle and Jasmine
Honeysuckle and Jasmine by Liz Grace Davis

Original vs. Redesign: So, I was GOING to say that this girl’s going to have some VISIBLE wounds if she doesn’t get out of the damn street, but then I saw that this was apparently redesigned to remove the POC and now I’m just sad. I mean, maybe it’s still a POC, but I can’t tell from just the arm visible. If the book sells better now, I give up on humanity.

10. Brazen – Katherine Longshore

Brazen - Katherine Longshore

US vs. UK: Not sure if that dress is period or not, but I will take it over the boring, fancy chocolate bar cover!

11. The Treatment (The Program #2) – Suzanne Young

The Treatment (The Program #2) - Suzanne Young
The Treatment (The Program #2) - Suzanne Young

Take 1 vs. Take 2: She is so frowny that she looks like one of those grumpy fish. Also, I don’t like either of these.

WTF of the Week:

WTF of the Week began as a special category for one cover I saw, but was so popular it became a recurring feature. Here, I highlight covers, both new and old, that I’ve found, which, upon viewing, made me either snort or say something along the lines of “Dear God, what is that thing?” If you would like to be part of the fun and have spotted a truly hilarious or horrifying cover, submit it and your snark to and you might be included, though I will filter through submissions and limit the number of entries per week.

1. Cherry Popper – K.A. Andrews
Cherry Popper - K.A. Andrews
Thoughts: So. Much. No.

2. Star-Crossed – Luna Lacour
Starcrossed - Luna Lacour
Thoughts: Can we not flash a school girl’s underwear? Can we just not? Also, if you Google image search this, you’ll find it’s a photo of an Asian girl, but of course it’s been cropped not to show her face. This cover enrages me on pretty much every level.

Outstanding Cover of the Week:

The Murder Complex by Lindsay Cummings

The Outstanding Cover of the Week is chosen by a Cover Snark reader. They are free to pick any of the week’s covers, whether they’re to my personal tastes or not. If you’d like to choose the cover for a week, either email or tweet me. You will need to be available Wednesday evening to consult.

The Murder Complex (The Murder Complex #1) - Lindsay Cummings

Today, welcome Jon (Scott Reads It), who has selected The Murder Complex by Lindsay Cummings. Here’s why:

“I absolutely love the cover for The Murder Complex by Lindsay Cummings. It’s extremely eyecatching and it really gives off the impression that The Murder Complex is going to be one intense book. The taglines and the sanguine red color scheme help make this cover perfect.”

Ew ew ew. I cannot unsee the cover for Star Crossed and it’s getting on my nerves. Also, the image on GR seems to be darker which makes her underwear less visible. But either way, EW. I just had to leave a comment ranting on that :/

On the awesome covers side however, I couldn’t stop staring at Beyond Out Stars. I’m a sucker for galaxy/stars/nebula print and that cover is pretty *___* Definitely excited for The Murder Complex as well, praying hard that it lives up to it’s cover.

OH, I almost forget. Divergent’s movie book cover is horrendous.

    1. OBVIOUSLY he is a hipster and she is a socialite or whatever. That is the edge factor of their relationship. It will become the barrier at one point but all will end well because.

    8. All hail Miss Punner of Fictions. What a BUMmer that you couldn’t work more in. That would have been a BOOTYful thing to see. Alas, better TUSH next time. (Haha, I suck at this.)

    24. One of her sins was going all out with self-tanner. My god, those legs are orange.

    27. Whoa. I totally thought she was wearing a purple scarf but no, it’s the longer strands of her hair.

    31. That’s the most awkward and thoroughly disgusting almost-kiss I’ve ever seen.

    39. And she would have back spasms by now. And his feet would be slipping. And they would land in the mud. Seriously, though, the back spasms. I’ve been in a similar position and it takes some core strength to maintain it.

CB 4. NO. NO YOU DID NOT JUST GO THERE. The UK cover forever. I see you trying to do the “if I alienate you know, I won’t miss you so much when you’re gone” routine but come on. She looks like a porcelain doll on the US cover.

CB 9. Fuck this. I can’t believe they cut off her head. That often happens with PoC covers. Are we supposed to guess her ethnicity from her skirt now? How about no.

CB 10. Are you serious? The US cover is so much better. What is it with you this week?

CB 11. She looks like Sutton Foster. So THAT’s why Bunheads was cancelled. *grumbles*

WTF 2. That’s it. I’ve lost all faith in the industry. Let’s cut off the Asian girl’s head so that we don’t see her as a person and then reduce her to her crotch. It’s not like WoC’s aren’t constantly over-sexualised. I just. I can’t.

  3. 1. I like his glasses :p
    4. Ohhh, nice and scary! Exactly what the title promises me.
    6. Mehh, don’t like it.
    7. It’s pretty!
    11. SO COOL. It’s a shame I’m not a fan of such books.
    15. “After succumbing to the sudden and terrifying urge to rip people’s eyes out of their sockets, 16-year-old Lysandra Blake finds herself tied down in a psych ward, convinced she’s crazy.” Haha, interesting.
    29. It looks eye-catching 🙂
    30. Why always kissing couples? I hate most of the kissing faces they make..
    31. Another example, ugk.
    34. Why announce two names? I don’get it, just use one :p
    35. Yep, the ‘less is more’ works great here.
    38. This series is endless. JUST STOP ALREADY.
    41. GOOOOORGEOUS. I love the covers from this series and this one is just epic <3

Divergent: I really don't care for movie covers.
The falconer: I think I prefer the UK one. I love the background.

    Well not anymore you’re not.

    #8 looks extremely uncomfortable.

#11: why are only two of the mice dressed? Are they the odd ones, or are the other three nekkid?

“The voice is an instrument inside your body.”
Is the next big thing in taglines going to be stating random facts?

#30: that is one of the most awkward looking kisses ever.

“Confessions of the Very First Zombie Slayer (That I Know of)”
    AWESOME title.

Divergent: her tattoos look photoshopped on there. What, did they not have a picture of her with them already on?

    2. While this cover is super cool, I look at it and can only think ‘It would be such a bitch to step on those’

    3. THAT IS ONE OF THE BEST GIFS PARKS AND REC HAS EVER PRODUCED! (to hell with the cover, more Parks and Rec!)

    5. You are not, now that you’ve mentioned it, all I can see is fake Elvises fighting to the death.

    7. You’re hitting all of the best pop culture references. I applaud you.

    8. THE PUNS! ALL THE PUNS! *dissolves in punnish glee*

    11. I’m pretty sure this is how my cat sees the world, except in her version the mice are people. (I love my cat, but she also scares me.)

    13. I started humming that song before I saw your commentary and am still humming it, officially creeping myself out.

    15. I would say that tagline is pretty much the exact opposite of true, addiction is a lack of power, that’s kind of the whole point. Tagline fail.

    21. The creepy ghost face in the sky is both creepy and somehow eerily Legolas-ish. Maybe I just have Legolas on the brain thanks to Gillian.

    30. Camp Christmas sounds like my personal hell as well. We can go hang out on Grinch mountain where Christmas music is strictly verboten

    35. TBR. I’m picturing Feed meets Buffy which is probably a completely ridiculous assumption to make, but that’s where my brain has set up shop.

    37. Look at that USTy shoulder grab, if it’s anything else, this is a misleading cover.

CB 4: US, but barely. They both look pretty friction sweet. I agree, US tagline is better.

CB 9: I have hair and eyes! Where are my superpowers? *waits patiently*

WTF 1: *full body shudders* *crawls out of skin* *runs and hides*

  8. MJ says:

    Great post as always.

    1) Clark Kent wants his glasses back.

    3) I still have nightmares about some of those Simon Pulse novels. That does NOT need to be a trend again.

    5) A fight between Elvis impersonators would be awesome. I just had a flashback to that old Full House episode where Jesse competed in an Elvis look alike competition.

    32) Sort of looks like the cover for all those Lauren Oliver books but with a full face and hair.

    37) Please yes.

    38) Yawn. When will this series ever stop. I don’t even care anymore.

    39) He does not look like Hugh Jackman or any other decent rom com lead. Therefore, it is not Just Like the Movies.

    40) This tool gets his own book. The Casts never cease to amaze.

    11) Forget Grumpy Cat. Scary Cat for the win.

    13) I instantly thought of that song too when I saw the title. Thank you Princess Diaries movie.

    28) I almost feel like there needs to be a whole YA sub-genre with books with the word star used in its title. The cover actually falls short for me. It looks a little too generic.

  9. Jenni says:

I really like The Murder Complex cover too, well done with that one.

I had to come and see what you had to say about the WTF covers. The Cherry Popper one is unbelievable, that tagline is just ugh. And I felt really bad for even looking at the other cover you featured. Now I have to go have a shower.

    16. Is that the same girl as this?

    26. I guess we can’t really call it “where the sun doesn’t shine” anymore.

    33. This makes my skin crawl. THERE IS A SNAKE ON YOU WOMAN!

    Love this post!!!
9- “Citadels of fire” is amazing for me! I love this kind of covers, but I prefer them for Paperback version, they are more shiny!
11- “Mouseheart” It’s scaring me!!! I MUST NOT show it to my white cute little pet cat, he might have nightmares for years!!!! Luckily he’s sleeping now <3 !!!!

  13. Gillian says:

    1. Staying on Top seems like a VERY on the nose title for an NA novel, no? CHICANERY INDEED!!

    2. A PRESENT JUST FOR MEEEEE AND OF MY OTP TOOOO!! Han Kyul and Eun Chan would very much enjoy playing with those little toys! *clutches heart* *keels over from the feels*

    6. I… hate this, actually. I don’t think it fits at all.

    8. PUN OVERLOAD!! But that’s what they get for calling it “Up For Grabs” and then presenting a raised butt on the cover. Jeez.

    11. Holy shit that’s a scary cat.

    13. Save it for a rainy dayyyyy

    19. “The voice is an instrument inside your body.” The wonderful taglines just keep on coming. *pictures a girl with a guitar in her throat*

    21. *gigglesnort* That’s a very pensive-looking giant.

    24. Ha. You see? So what are you going to do? (Also, they’re releasing the third cover already? Did the second book even come out yet?)

    29. I like!

    30. I WOULD LOVE A CHRISTMAS THEMED CAMP. Christmas carols and Christmas crafts and baking and eating and hot chocolate and oh, ALL THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT! I would RUN a Christmas Camp.

    39. Why DO they have an umbrella? Is it a parasol? Are they such delicate little flowers that they must be protected from the sun at all times, even while they’re smooching?

    40. Poor Kalona looks really damn over it, doesn’t he?

    41. Hee, I also noted that those two covers were similar. STILL. BAD-ASS CELAENA. NOVELLAS IN PRINT. YESSSS.

    CB1. Hehe. Fartstorm.

CB5. Whelp, I wish i didn’t know about the near-identical other cover, because I much prefer the Bloomsbury one. That girl’s face looks weird and awkward and her hair is tragic.

CB8. Ew. To Both. Us by a SMIDGEN because of font/swirly corners. But that FACE. EW.

    CB9. –_____–

CB10. Um. Yeah. That dress looks off by about two hundred years. So I’m mad at it. (The other one really does look like a stupid and un-delicious chocolate bar)

  14. 2. The Coffee Prince pic makes me wish I had time to watch it, but I’m having issues with time management again. Whoops.

    4. I really don’t get what the big deal about this cover is and why everyone likes it. It looks like something I made in Photoshop back when I first started taking computer classes and the teacher told us to fuck around with all the filters and tools just to get used to what they did. I dislike it so much that my dislike of the author herself cannot taint my opinion.

    5. True story: The first time my parents went to Las Vegas, their shuttle driver was an Elvis impersonator. When someone cut him off at a red light, he got out of the shuttle and basically had a case of road rage all over the place (but the other driver was not another impersonator). Best. Intro to Vegas. Ever. The Balls weren’t even a twinkle in anyone’s eye yet.

But yeah, that cover is really cute and I was thinking fighting Elvis impersonators too.

    9. Stalin never cared much for forward-thinking and other people’s lives. He was warm and that was all that mattered!

    18. This one is pretty cool! I wouldn’t have remembered the other cover or compared them.

    24. I need her wardrobe, seriously. I could work prep school chic.

    26. And that plane is making a beeline for her vagina.

    28. Yes! Exactly! This is gorgeous and After Eden is awful. Put this cover’s designer on the case for every other star cover.

    33. I saw the art first and thought, “Hm, this look familiar” and THEN I saw the snake. No joke, seeing the snake all of a sudden made me jump.

    41. I love it! I’m not getting it, though. I disliked most of the novellas.

    4. I’m always going to prefer the UK one because of the colors and also EXPLOSIONS. Besides, I got impatient and ordered myself a copy from the UK. It’ll be here sometime in December. The US cover is bland and I’m pretty sure I’d miss it in a bookstore.

    9. >:( Fuckers.

    1. WAIT A MOTHERFUCKING SECOND. So this shitstain plagiarist and sockpuppeteer is trying AGAIN with this stupid-sounding book that no doubt plagiarizes Losing It and probably another NA novel or two? *curses so many times the ground opens up and swallows me*

WTF 2: And that’s 12 different kinds of wrong. Ick.

  16. 1. And what’s up with sticking your head out the bus, people? It’s dirty out there. AND YOU’RE INSIDE THE SAME BUS! Why not tap his shoulder and ask if the seat next to him is free so he doesn’t kill his shoulder looking back at you?

    2. Ho-okay that looks cool.

    7. Midnight? Thief? *is reluctantly dragged along by her trigger interest words*

    11. Ack! That cat! Also, why are rats always the bad guys and mice the good guys? Rats are very intelligent and loving!

    13. That song is going to be stuck in my head all day now.

    15. I am not sure how I feel about that cover. I almost wonder what it would have looked like in white instead of black. Probably just as weird. Update: WOAH WOAH WOAH! Have you read the synopsis? Nope nopety nope.

    24. Just commenting to high-five you on your comment. 😀

    28. I wasn’t going to bother to say it on the last one, but since there are two in a row, let me say that I do not like the little Bloomsbury sunburst. It makes a cheap-looking cover look even cheaper.

CB8. Is this about a girl that shapeshifts into a lioness? Because that would be cool.

And all of your WTF covers certainly live up to their name this week. GAG.

    3. Is this a world where the hairbush was never invented?

    11. Why must the kitty be evil??!

    23. This looks so Hitchhiker-y, you know?

    28. The pink starburst at the bottom is really distracting…

    36. I laughed forever at the comment. Book nerd humor, I love it.

  18. 4. Don’t like this at all. Had a feeling this cover was going to be meh.

    5. Adorable. You might be right, but this is so cutesy and I love it.

    7. Absolutely love this creepy cover and any other covers remotely like it. This is totally my thing.

    10. I am so fucking over this controlling man storylines. It’s so not sexy and it’s repulsive and sexist.

    16. Girl needs to take care of that stache somehow!

    33. I actually really like this and the oddness of it.

CB9. Getting rid of a POC cover? WHY? That’s so not okay, even if I do like the redesign.

And I can’t say I agree on the cover of the week this time. Don’t like that cover at all. Oh well. 🙂
